The hacker has not yet released anything from the stolen data in public. The stolen data includes various customer information, Databases, and a massive amount of technical data regarding its hacking tools. Hackers are looking to sell the access to Cellebrite system and data that they hacked on a few selected IRC chat rooms, the hacker told Joseph Cox, who is a contributor at Motherboard. Joseph Cox even received a copy of the stolen data. Cellebrite also acknowledged the hacked and released a public statement why reads “Cellebrite recently experienced unauthorized access to an external web server. The impacted server included a legacy database backup of my.Cellebrite, the company’s end user license management system.” “The company had previously migrated to a new user accounts system. Presently, it is known that the information accessed includes basic contact information of users registered for alerts or notifications on Cellebrite products and hashed passwords for users who have not yet migrated to the new system. To date, the company is not aware of any specific increased risk to customers as a result of this incident; however, my.Cellebrite account holders are advised to change their passwords as a precaution.” As we already mentioned the name of the hacker has not been revealed. Cellebrite claimed that there’s no risk associated with the hack and at the same time it recommended its users to change their passwords.
