In order to set up human colonies on moon, Dennis Wingo from spacecraft manufacturer SkyCorp, said that construction materials will be taken from meteors and the lunar soil. Also, 3D Printing Technologies will be adopted to robotically create structures using the lunar soil and the broken components could be substituted by printing which will save the requirement to launch spares to the moon. Additionally, inflatable habitats as those developed by Bigelow Aerospace, could be used on the Moon to accommodate astronauts. Wingo further said that the foremost possible area for the first lunar base could be a Peary Crater which is adjacent to Moon’s North Pole. This area is abundantly flat and it also gets substantial amount of sunlight and may contain rich levels of minerals.
